Haridwar Haridwar is district of Uttarakhand state in India. Haridwar is place where the river Ganges enters in plain areas north India after flowing 250 kms from its origin Gaumukh (Gangotri Glacier). Haridwar is the place where people from across the India visit for pilgrimage and to take a holy dip into the holy river Ganges.

Day 1 : Delhi - Rishikesh

In the morning, we transfer you to the railway station to board the super fast train Shatabadi Express to reach Haridwar. Arrive in the holy town of Haridwar and transfer to the Rishikesh Grand Tapovan hotel.
Drive to the holy town of Rishikesh - also known as the 'place of sages', at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga rivers . It is believed that God by the name of 'Hrishikesh' had appeared as an reply to the hard penances by Rabhiya Rishi and henceforth the place got its name. It is the starting point for the Chardham yatra pilgrims but also for the people who are interested in meditation, yoga and other aspects of Hinduis tradition.



Day - 2 : Rishikesh - Haridwar

While in Rishikesh, you visit attractions like Laxman Jhula- a hanging bridge on the river Ganga is one of the most famous spot in Rishikesh. According to Indian mythology, Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama crossed the Ganga with the help of hanging bridge made of Jute. The bridge offers impressive views of the river Ganga as it crisscrosses down to Haridwar. Also visit Bharat Mandir - the oldest temple in Rishikesh, near the Triveni Ghat. This temple is dedicated to Bharat, the younger brother of Lord Ram. Optional activities -White water rafting.
Post lunch, visit Popular temples & place in Rishikesh including Triveni Ghat , Bharat Mandir , Laxman Jhula , Ram Jhula , Geeta Bhawan , Neelkanth Mahadev , Tera Manzil Temple , Lakshman Temple , Vashishta Gufa , Parmarth Niketan , Sivanand Ashram , Omkaranand Ashram , Swargashram . Aarti is the beautiful ceremony in which deeyas (the oil lamps) are offered to God. Aarti can be done to a deity in the temple or it can be done to a saint also as per tradition. It is performed to God, in any manifestation, or in any form, by any name. The essence of the Ganga Aarti ceremony is a time when we say "thank you," and we offer the light of our thanks, the light of our love and the light of our devotion to the god to seek their b;essings. It is said that drops of Amrit (Elixir) fell in to the Brahmkund of Har-Ki-Pauri, therefore considered that a dip in the Brahmakund.Haridwar History It has been proved by archaeological findings that terracotta culture had an existence in Haridwar during 1700 B.C. and 1800 B.C. Haridwar has been in people's mind from the period of Buddha to the British arrival and still in the 21st century. Haridwar was ruled by Maurya Empire from 322 BCE to 185 BCE and later it came under the rule of Kushan Empire according to historical evidences. Well-known Chinese traveler Huan Tsang visited India in 629 AD. He has mentioned Haridwar in his travel journal. At that time Haridwar was part of the kingdom of the King Harshvardhan (590 to 647). The city was also invaded by Timur Lang (1336–1405), a Turkish King on January 13, 1399. First Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak (1469–1539) bathed at 'Kushwan Ghat' on Baisakhi Day. Later in the 16th century Haridwar came under reign of Mughals and emperors like Akbar and Jehangir stamped their dominated here. According to Ain-e-Akbari Mughal Emperor, Akbar drank water from the Ganges river collected from Haridwar, which he called 'the water of immortality'.
